ArchiVenture is a board game about architecture. You play it with your colleagues, guided by an architect from ArchiXL. In a single session, you experience how architecture impacts strategy, change, risks, IT, and results.
Architects see how everything fits together. The rest of the organization mainly sees diagrams, principles, and more meetings. If people do not see the value, they will not make room for it. Good advice then gets left on the shelf, while teams make choices that cost time and money later on.
That is why ArchiXL developed ArchiVenture. The game makes complex architecture questions tangible. You do not just read about them, you experience them yourself. And you discuss them with the people you work with every day.
ArchiVenture is inspired by the well-known board game The Game of Life. Each player goes through an accelerated career as an architect or analyst. Along the way, you collect architecture points and face business decisions. Do you choose a solid foundation or go for quick results? You immediately see how your choices affect strategy and finances.
The board consists of four areas: principles, value, collaboration, and products. You travel from one area to another via stations. Along the way, you receive assignments, salaries, and bonuses, but also pay taxes and take exams. This way, you quickly discover that architecture is about more than just modeling.
In between, you answer questions about your own organization. What does the person next to you think about that particular issue? And why does your colleague see it completely differently? These conversations are what make the game truly valuable.
Every space on the board sets something in motion. Sometimes you earn money, sometimes you pay, and sometimes the whole table has to join the conversation. Here are three examples of what you might encounter:
Your management team wants a new system within three months. Do you get the architecture right first, or deliver fast?
Delivering fast pays off now. But you’ll pay the price later, at the next station.
Who owns your employee or customer data? Everyone writes down a name.
Count how many different names are on the table. That’s where the conversation begins.
Explain the difference between an architecture principle and a guideline.
Correct? You earn an architecture point!
Wrong? You have to make another round in this area.
You discover what architecture is, what it involves, and what it delivers. Not from a book, but through the choices you make yourself and the consequences you see immediately.
You play against your colleagues. There are points to win, plenty of opportunities to laugh, and lots to discuss. This makes the game approachable, even for people who normally have little to do with architecture.
ArchiVenture is an introduction to architecture. We created it for people who don’t normally have much to do with architecture, but would secretly like to know more about it. Or perhaps simply should know more about it.
You get a way to start the conversation about architecture without diagrams or technical jargon.
You see how architecture decisions affect risks, budgets, and results. That helps when you need to build support.
You gain a better understanding of why architects do what they do. And you hear how your colleagues think about difficult issues.
You practice making strategic choices and see the consequences, without it costing your organization anything.
An ArchiXL architect sets up the game and explains how it works. You don’t need any prior knowledge of architecture.
You play for 90 to 120 minutes. The architect guides the game, answers questions, and keeps things moving.
Together, you connect the game to your own organization. What can architecture mean for you, and where do you start?
This is the introductory price for organizations that join the waiting list now. It includes everything: the game materials, introduction, guidance by an ArchiXL architect, and the debrief.
After the introductory period, the price will be €1,495 per session.
