BegrippenXL™ Concept Manager

The Concept Manager provides a user-friendly interface for defining and editing concepts. This enables anyone in the organization to do so without requiring deep knowledge of the tool. The editor supports multiple languages, allowing you to define the preferred term and all other properties in several languages. It is also possible to edit multiple concepts at the same time in an Excel-like interface, making it easy to apply changes to many concepts quickly.

The Concept Manager supports the new Dutch government-wide standard for describing concepts. The standard specifies how concepts in a concept list, taxonomy, or thesaurus should be described unambiguously. This standard is not entirely new but is a combination of existing industry standards with further elaboration. The manager supports all properties defined by the standard.

Concepts gain more meaning when they are related to other concepts. This also allows referencing concepts that are nearly or completely identical in meaning. A unique feature of the Concept Manager is that it allows adopting another concept. The concept is then included in your own concept framework, additional properties can be added, while the management of the concept remains with the original source.

If concepts are already available in RDF/Turtle or comma-separated format, they can be imported. There are also options to import other formats. Concepts created with the Concept Manager can likewise be easily exported in RDF/Turtle or comma-separated format. If WikiXL is also used, other content can be easily converted into concepts in accordance with the NL-SBB standard.
