ArchiXL Platform Day 2024: Harmonizing Reference Architectures

Last Thursday, the historic Winkel van Sinkel in Utrecht formed the backdrop for the ArchiXL Platform Day 2024. In this meeting we talked about our vision on developments, our platform and the design of service management. In addition, a number of our customers talked about their experiences with our products.

Strategic Vision and Technological Innovation

Danny Greefhorst opened the day with an overview of current developments such as new legislation and regulations, new standards, the impact of digitalization on society and artificial intelligence in particular. Issues such as critical thinking, ethics, data quality, metadata and data governance are becoming increasingly relevant. 

Platform developments

Remco de Boer presented the further development of the ArchiXL product portfolio and the associated support:

• The new concept editor, developed in accordance with the Dutch Standard for Describing Concepts (NL-SBB)
• Significant improvements in WikiXL and ArchiMedes
• Further professionalization of service management, with attention to issue, feature and relationship management

Practical experiences from the field

A number of customers talked about their experiences with our products:

• Ad Gerrits and Mark Backer (VNG) shared their experiences with the revision of the GEMMA reference architecture within the WikiXL platform.
• Patrick de Klein (MBO Utrecht) presented the implementation of Enterprise Architecture via ArchiMedes, with MORA as the foundation.
• Brian Dommisse (Kennisnet) highlighted the development of the ROSA conceptual framework in relation to NL-SBB

Closure

The day ended with an extensive networking drinks, which provided space for in-depth discussions about the architectural concepts and implementation strategies presented. This informal setting facilitated valuable knowledge exchange between ArchiXL and our customers.

Conclusion

The ArchiXL Platform Day 2024 emphasized the importance of continuous knowledge sharing and collaboration in the architecture domain. The various presentations and discussions demonstrated that there is a growing need for integrated architectural approaches that connect different domains.
