On May 18, an ArchiXL user day was organized in the Muntgebouw in Utrecht about the theme of reference architectures. On the day, a number of customers spoke about their specific reference architectures and how they use ArchiXL's products. Eric Brouwer from NORA spoke about the importance of a service concept for government organizations. It was heard how wikis have stimulated the use of CORA and the VERA in housing associations. Kennisnet told about FORA's relatively young architecture for basic education and the value of a software catalog. The Waterschapshuis focused in particular on the role and process of communities around the WILMA.
After presentations from customers, Danny Greefhorst talked about ArchiXL's production vision. Central to this vision is making data and knowledge easily accessible and mappable by using Linked Data technologies. In addition to the existing products, a new Linked Data platform will become available, which will be explicitly linked to the existing products. Knowledge in wikis will therefore also be available as Linked Data in the future. The substantive program concluded with a short panel discussion about the role of the user group. This mainly resulted in the need for substantive knowledge exchange, such as about the knowledge models used and the differences between them. In addition, there was a clear need for community building, so that more insight is gained into new functionalities and experiences can be exchanged. There was also a need for a manual, a newsletter about new functionalities and a forum. Apart from the products, the participants also saw a role for ArchiXL in supporting new architects within the government.
The day ended with a communal drink in which the participants could chat and connect with each other. All in all, it was a successful meeting with a lot of knowledge and network exchange.
The presentations and some photos of the day are available on this page.
